About "International Standard Sound": At the International Standard Sound, we record original sound and build archives for stringed instrument worldwide. Professionals understand that the sound of an acoustic stringed instrument is very important to both performers and audience. Many great violins, such as A. Stradivari, Amati, and Guarneri Del Gesu, etc., have been recorded by different recording companies with variety of equipment, at many concert halls and studios, Then, sound treatment such as different kind of reverb are added to make the "Instrument Sounds Better", finalized by many different personal taste of engineers and performers. Therefore, it is impossible to compare the true sound of each instrument. Even worse, there are "experts" using cellphone recording to judge sound of violins which is unprofessional and inaccurate.
The basic concept is very scientific and fairly simple: Use Professional Recording Equipment to record sound of stringed instrument, using an F. Tourte bow, played by one great violinist, using a very fine Italian instrument as a "Point of Reference" for different recording locations. We DO NOT add any sound effects to all recording. Thus, we eliminate as many variable factors as possible. We take professional photos to document each instrument, weather conditions at the time of recording. We currently have a location near Cincinnati, Ohio, US. We can travel to Milan(Milano), Cremona(Cremona), and Florence(Firenze) for recording project if recording locations are available. We are a small business which spent much time, money, and effort to develop an "International Standard Sound" since 2014. We don't take vacations. We welcome any suggestions about the improvement of the quality of our product. Some great ideas may not be possible due to the cost of achieving them.
If you would like to enter the sound data base, please contact us. We can record your violin and viola, take photos and make video. Then your instrument will be in the data base. We charge $250 for single instrument for this service. If you need service for multiple instruments, we can offer discount. You need to pay for shipping also. Our company is capable of producing high quality classical music audio and video recordings for documentation and advertising. Please contact us should you have such needs.
